Al and I didn't ride today but we met for lunch with the road atlas.
Right now Monday looks like our take-off day to head home.
There is NO WAY we can go north and then east. There is snow all over up there so we will head northeast by east.
That puts us crossing northern New Mexico, Northern Texas, southern southern Oklahoma toward Tennessee and then to North Carolina before turning north toward home.
It looks like we will be FORCED to ride Deals Gap and the "Dragon".
You can read about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deals_Gap,_North_Carolina
All of this is weather dependant and taking off Monday looks like it MIGHT work and enable us to cover ground dry. At least we wont be in snow!!! Been there..Done that.
We shall see.
That's it for today.
Sorry about the lack of ride photos but we do like to take a day or two for our selfs and do nothing once in a while.
Been enjoying the post and pictures, although snakes and I don't get along, it was fun watching someone else. for me Id stay out of that town :).
ReplyDeleteHope you have a safe and dry ride east and by all means enjoy the dragon, do it at leat a couple times...... It is memorable.
Sandi here - I told him to do it both ways, you have the time...I'm not done the construction at home!
ReplyDeleteI have permission to: "Do it both ways"..................
ReplyDeleteI am NOT gonna say any more..............
Double entendre aside, drive carefully.
ReplyDelete"The speed limit on the Dragon was 55 mph prior to 1992; it was reduced to 30 mph in 2005. The presence of law enforcement on the Tennessee portion has dramatically increased in 2007, 2008 and 2009."
